Casual psychopathy and sociopathy on the scale of the modern Republican party still astound me. I feel like someday, decades down the road, we’re going to find out that there’s some previously-undiagnosed brain chemical imbalance or something that causes people to be… well, whatever current-day Republicans are. Not to give Republicans an excuse for being the shitty people that they are; people who suffer from biological mental problems are still responsible for acknowledging their wrong behavior and seeking treatment for the underlying cause. But it just boggles my mind that so many people willingly choose to be shitty human beings.

This is exactly what I think/hope as well.
